Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Step 1 — Install Sagaloop AI from the Shopify App Store

Open your Shopify admin and navigate to the Shopify App Store. Search for "Sagaloop AI" and click "Add app". Approve the permissions — Sagaloop AI needs read access to your product catalog and the ability to add a storefront script. It never accesses customer payment data.

Step 2 — Activate the AI Chat Widget

After installation you'll land in the Sagaloop AI dashboard. The chat widget can be activated in two ways — choose whichever fits your store:

Step 3 — Sync Your Store & Configure the AI

Sagaloop AI automatically imports your full catalog on first install. From the dashboard you can:

  • Re-sync products, pages, blog posts, and collections any time
  • Upload PDFs — size guides, instruction manuals, spec sheets (Growth plan and above)
  • Choose your LLM: Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini, Groq, or Ollama
  • Set your bot name, welcome message, brand color, and launcher style
  • Configure live human escalation (email, URL, or JavaScript)

Step 4 — Add the Product Q&A Block (Rufus-Style)

The Product Q&A block is added as a standard Shopify theme block inside your product page template — no App Embed needed:

  • Go to Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize
  • Navigate to a product template and click Add block
  • Find Sagaloop AI — Product Q&A and add it
  • Drag the block to your preferred position (above price, below description, before Add to Cart, etc.)
  • Set your custom heading text and save — chips generate automatically per product

Step 5 — Set Up the Expert Advice System (Pro & Enterprise)

The Expert Advice intake form is placed on your store via the App Proxy URL or an embedded block:

  • Go to Sagaloop AI Dashboard → Expert Advice → Form Builder
  • Choose a quick-start template or build your form from scratch with 9 field types
  • Configure the AI agent: choose LLM, write system instructions, set confidence threshold
  • Copy the embed URL and add it to any Shopify page using the Custom Liquid section, or link directly
  • Configure staff notification email so your team is alerted on each new submission
  • Optionally enable Auto-Response to let high-confidence AI drafts deliver automatically

Step 6 — Go Live!

Click "Activate" in the dashboard and Sagaloop AI is immediately live. Visit your store and test each module — ask a product question in the chat, tap a Q&A chip on a product page, and submit a test Expert Advice form. Everything streams and responds in real time.

Does Sagaloop AI work on mobile?

Yes — the chat widget and product Q&A chips are fully responsive and work on mobile phones, tablets, and desktops. The Expert Advice intake form is also mobile-optimized.

Can I test the AI before going live?

Yes. Use the Preview Mode in the dashboard to chat with your AI privately before activating it on your live storefront.

What happens if the AI can't answer a question?

The AI will politely inform the customer and trigger your configured escalation path — email, URL, or your embedded live chat tool (Gorgias, Intercom, Zendesk, etc.).

How do I pause or disable the widget?

Go to Dashboard → Widget → Settings and toggle the widget off. It stops appearing on your storefront instantly until you re-enable it.

Which LLMs are supported?

Anthropic Claude (Sonnet, Haiku, Opus), OpenAI GPT-4o / GPT-4o Mini, Google Gemini 2.0 Flash / 1.5 Pro, Groq (Llama 4 Scout, Llama 3.3 70B), and Ollama (run locally, zero API cost). You can switch models at any time without losing your knowledge base or training data.
